The chances are that you just came up with a great idea for a club that you know is just going to be stellar! Well hold your horses, before we can do anything, we need to know a few things first such as how do we start this club? Who do I need to talk to about spreading the word about it? Do organisations require any money? Read through the entirety of this article and you will have all the answers along with knowledge of how to start your club as soon as possible.
Establish The Club To Self/School
One of the first things that you need to do is to make sure that you have an idea that is popular. Try to casually talk to your friends about it and ensure that you have all the obvious questions answered. Trust us here, the last thing that you want to do is present your idea unprepared. So take that extra time to make sure you know what you are doing and talking with others can go a long way. You may even be recruiting future members.
Once you have it, all visualise in your head, then go ahead with the pitch. There are various reasons that your club can be shoot down that has nothing to do with the way the pitch went. The school just could not have the room to support this. Is your school overrun with clubs? Remember all those obvious questions? Well, take the time to make sure nothing is stopping you from starting this club and be prepared to use the information that you have gain.
Spread/Plan The Word
So we are going to assume that your idea got accepted. One of the first things that you should do is spread the word and start recruiting members. Do not expect everything to start off pretty. Remember that most clubs fail not a year or so down the line but during these first few rocky weeks. Once you get a handful of members, then it is the time that you hold your first meeting. Get prepared for a lot of things to get put on the table and if they are not then it is your job to put them there. All of this will vary on many factors such as the idea of your club, members, goals, etc.
Planning is the key word here. If you think that you are under planning, then note that if you do not already have a road for how the next year will go from the first meeting to establishing the funds for the club, then you are dangerously unprepared. As much as we would love to write a checklist of all the things that you should plan for, there is nothing general about it. You wanted to start a club well here is the hard truth. You are going to have to build it from the ground up and with your own hands.
Budgeting The Machine
The chances are that you are going to start this club with zero dollars to its name. If you can get your club up and running without any money, which is just highly unrealistic, then more power to you. For those of us in the real world, then note every dollar you get is valuable and that every cent of it should only touch trusted hands. You should have a steady influx of cash with member fees and everyone in the club should know this. Show everyone where every dollar is going and how you are attempting to run your club because of congrats if you did everything here then you are already starting one. Good luck.
